Product Development Food internship

Creating better understanding of functionality of beer grain and supporting in expanding the beer grain-based products.

Your graduation research will be an integral part of your internship at us. So next to performing your research/ writing your thesis, your role will focus on supporting in:

  • Understanding functional properties and ingredient interactions related to beer grain;
  • Designing and testing beer grain-based products to be produced at scale, e.g. pastry, cereal bars and crackers;
  • Staying in close contact with industrial producers of the products you have designed, to understand their findings and concerns with our beer grain;
  • Looking for opportunities to expand our product portfolio based on the properties of the beer grain.  

Your profile:

  • A MSc or final year BSc student food technology (HBO of WO voedingsmiddelentechnologie). This means you know the ins and outs of food technology and have a passion for ingredient functionality;
  • Fluency in Dutch is preferred and English required to ensure you can work effectively with our diverse team.

Startdate: early 2023

Quality & Food Safety internship 

Supporting in our quality journey, since the quality of our products is the key for our success.

Your graduation research will be an integral part of your internship at us. So next to performing your research/ writing your thesis, your role will focus on supporting in:

  • Extending the HACCP system for current production method and set up of the HACCP system for the future factory;
  • Research into CCP’s and especially the monitoring and control measures;
  • Continuing the development of the pre requisite programmes according to certification requirements;
  • Supporting in our Quality Assurance activities; 
  • Working in close collaboration with your colleagues at MaGie Creations and external stakeholders to ensure the quality system is embedded in everyone’s day-to-day work (where relevant);
  • Looking for opportunities to further improve our quality standards.

Your profile:

  • a MSc or final year BSc student Food Safety and Quality management (educational level either HBO or WO). This means you know the ins and outs of food quality management and have a passion for food safety;
  • Fluency in Dutch is preferred and English required to ensure you can work effectively with our diverse team.

 

Startdate: early 2023.

    Biochemical Innovation internship

    Assessing the effects of food processing on functionality of brewers’ spent grains (BSG).

    You will focus your research on improving the nutritional value and technological functionality of brewers’ spent grains by:

    • Assessing the effects of food processing on the functionality of brewers’ spent grain in terms of rheology and texture;
    • Performing laboratory research aimed at characterising food functionality;
    • Chemically characterising the samples and assessing their effects on the microbiome;
    • Identifying potential food applications where the outputs could be used;
    • Assessing opportunities for enzymatic conversion of brewers’ spent grain to improve its functionality.

    Your profile:

    • A final year MSc student Biotechnology/Chemical engineering/Food Chemistry with an interest in biochemistry.
    • Fluency in Dutch is preferred and in English required to ensure that you can work effectively with our diverse teams.
